Stories of young Indians overcoming adversity often surface on social media, but few resonate as strongly as that of Sidhant Singh, an IIT-BHU graduate whose journey from personal loss to professional success has struck a chord with thousands.
Sidhant was just 17 when his father passed away, a moment that abruptly altered the course of his life. With the family’s monthly income shrinking to about Rs 30,000 in a city as expensive as Bengaluru, he found himself juggling financial responsibilities while preparing for competitive exams. Yet, by his own account, giving up was never an option. He secured a seat at IIT-BHU, marking the first major milestone in a journey defined by grit and self-belief.
Once on campus, he ventured into trading to support his expenses and soon experimented with entrepreneurship. In his first year, he launched a gaming startup that drew more than 250 users. Although the venture did not survive, he continued exploring opportunities, later working in private equity before joining a firm as an analyst.
Sidhant recently shared his trajectory online, outlining how he eventually established a marketing agency that now earns around Rs 5 lakh a month. He also managed to travel to four countries within a year, experiences he funded independently. Remarkably, he cleared his college fees through trading even before graduating.
In the post that has gone viral across platforms, Sidhant emphasised the importance of advancing steadily, saying that progress often comes from taking small steps consistently, even in the bleakest phases. “Life changes if you just choose to wake up daily and make some progress even though all odds are against you,” he wrote, a sentiment that has found wide acceptance among young readers.

The reactions have been emotional and empathetic. Several users recounted losing a parent at a young age, expressing how his story offered renewed hope. “Your journey mirrors mine,” one comment read, “I lost my father at 16 and began working at 17. You’re doing great.” Another wrote, “I, too, lost my father at 17. I’m striving for my family. I hope things work out.”
For many, Sidhant’s story underscores a broader message, that life begins to change the moment one stops offering excuses. While circumstances can easily overwhelm, they can also become the very force that propels individuals to rise stronger.
